The conditions with the Coronavirus (COVID-19) are rapidly changing. Orange County Child Support Services will update this page regularly with new information regarding changes to our services.

To protect your privacy, we are not able to communicate by social media.

Important Changes at Child Support Services:

  • For your safety and the safety of our staff, we ask that you please wear a face mask when entering the building.
  • Social distancing is encouraged through floor markings and reduced occupancy guidelines. This includes reduced space for in-person interviews.
  • After checking in, we will be asking customers to respectfully wait outside to be called for their interview. We will text you when an interview room becomes available.
  • A new protocol for document handling has been implemented as a preventative measure. Please bring any necessary documents with you and our staff will guide you through the changes.

Attending Interviews:

Phone Interview: Call (714) 347-4980 to speak to a case manager right away.

Virtual Interview: Attend your interview from home using your smart phone or computer web cam. Learn how to use Webex for your virtual interview: Video Tutorial | Printable Instructions.

In-person Interview: To ensure health and safety, we are reducing the number of in-person interviews during the current increase in Coronavirus cases. We expect this change to result in increased wait times when visiting us in person and strongly encourage you to take advantage of our convenient virtual and phone interview options. If a virtual or phone interview does not meet your needs, we encourage you to call (714) 347-4980 before you come to your in-person interview so that we can prepare for your visit and share current wait times. As a reminder, a mask covering your nose and mouth must be worn throughout your interview.

Electronic Service of Documents

Electronic Service of Court Documents:

Due to COVID-19, the State of California has added temporary rules regarding the service of documents. Court documents that are normally served to Orange County Child Support Services through mail or fax can be submitted electronically through email.

Receiving Payments:

Disbursement of paper checks may be delayed. Consider enrolling in direct deposit or requesting an Electronic Payment Card (EPC).

Making Payments:

  • Online
  • By phone: (866) 901-3212
  • By mail: Mail check/money order to CA State Disbursement Unit, P.O. Box 989067, West Sacramento, CA 95798-9067
  • Using PayPal
  • Using PayNearMe: Get a personal barcode and find participating locations to make cash payments.
  • Using MoneyGram: Find participating locations to make cash payments. Your participant identification number and access code 14630 are required.
  • In Office: Cashiers in our customer service lobby are now accepting in-person payments. Pay at the counter or kiosk, Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The California State Disbursement Unit remains open and will continue to process and disburse payments.

Modifying a Child Support Order:

If you are experiencing a change of circumstances, such as loss of income, request to change (modify) your order by completing an online application or contacting us. We can also help you and the other parent reach an agreement (stipulation) to change your order.

You will still pay the same amount in child support unless you change your order or reach an agreement. If you cannot come to an agreement, then we will schedule a court hearing. Due to the court's closure, court hearing dates will be scheduled 4-6 months from now.

Bank Levies & Driver's License Suspensions:

Automated actions for bank levies and driver's license suspensions have been stopped. If you receive notification of either of these actions, please contact us at (866) 901-3212.
